Why Landlords in Cornwall Should Upgrade to Energy Efficient Lighting

Hi, I’m Elliot from Elliot Electrical. I’ve worked with quite a few landlords and estate agents around Cornwall over the years, and one upgrade I always suggest is switching to energy efficient lighting. It’s simple, affordable, and it just makes sense long-term.

Most rental properties I visit still have old halogen or incandescent bulbs. They might have worked fine years ago, but they’re not great by today’s standards. Modern LED lighting is miles ahead. It uses far less electricity, lasts much longer, and gives off a better quality of light too.

For landlords, that means lower bills for tenants, which makes your property more appealing. It also means fewer phone calls about bulbs blowing or dodgy fittings. The LEDs I install often last over ten years, so once it’s done, it’s done.

Energy efficient lighting can also help with EPC ratings. With all the changes to regulations, especially for rentals, every bit helps. It won’t fix a poor EPC on its own, but it’s one of the easiest improvements to tick off the list.
